About Me

MEET KELLY

I am a licensed massage therapist, medical massage practitioner, and vocal performance specialist dedicated to helping singers, professional voice users, and individuals with TMJ disorders restore comfort, efficiency, and confidence. I hold a BM and MMus in Vocal Performance and have advanced training in a variety of specialty massage techniques including IASTM and mechanoreceptor activation.

MY JOURNEY

I started performing at such a young age I couldn't tell you when my first actual performance was. I sang in classical music performances, youth choruses, and festivals, but starting at age three, most of my time was spent training in pre-professional ballet. Dance was integral to my identity. Unfortunately, it was through this that I had my first devastating experience with a performance-related injury that ended my dance career just as it was truly beginning.

Despite having to regroup, my continued passion for performance led me to study voice at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. However, I quickly began experiencing jaw pain and vocal fatigue. I pushed forward and continued training and performing professionally after graduating, but always felt like some piece of the puzzle was missing when I sang.

As I looked for answers, I learned that many healthcare practitioners do not fully understand the distinct demands placed on a heavily engaged performing artist. I attended Clary Sage College in Tulsa, Oklahoma for massage therapy training, in part to find solutions for myself, but also to discover a better way for anyone who uses their voice to manage and sustain vocal longevity.

Following this, I earned my master’s degree at Texas Christian University, focusing my research on the intersection of vocal performance and manual therapy. Inspired by medical literature on voice disorders, I wanted to apply those principles to help healthy singers and professional voice users shorten their learning curves, speed up recovery, and find day-to-day ease in using their voices.

Most massage therapists have limited exposure to vocal anatomy, and many voice teachers are not trained in manual therapy. My practice intentionally unites both perspectives from a trauma-informed lens, acknowledging the deep role that emotional and physical vulnerability play in voice and jaw function.

Outside the clinic you'll usually find me skiing, training in aerial arts, enjoying a well-crafted bottle of wine with friends, or spoiling my two senior cats. I believe healthcare doesn't have to feel cold or intimidating, and I hope every patient leaves feeling more comfortable than when they arrived.
