VOICE DISORDER THERAPY

Targeted bodywork and vocal coaching to relieve strain and restore your natural voice. Designed to address both structural tension and functional vocal issues, whether mild fatigue or complex voice changes.

IS THIS THERAPY RIGHT FOR YOU?

Whether you're a performing artist, public speaker, or simply struggling with daily vocal fatigue, voice issues can feel overwhelming. Voice disorders generally fall into two categories:

  • Functional Issues: Strain, muscle tightness, or breathing mechanics that affect how your voice works.

  • Structural Issues: Physical changes to the vocal mechanism itself (such as nodules, polyps, or scarring).

Manual therapy and vocal coaching provide immediate relief for functional tension and serve as an invaluable supportive therapy alongside your doctor or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for structural conditions.

Functional Voice Issues

Primary focus of in-clinic manual therapy & coaching

  • Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD): Chronic tightness in the neck, throat, and jaw.

  • Functional Dysphonia: Voice loss or weakness without an obvious structural cause.

  • Performance Fatigue: Vocal tiredness, loss of range, or strain after speaking/singing.

  • TMJ-Related Vocal Strain: Jaw tension affecting vocal freedom.

Structural Conditions Supported

Used as a complementary therapy in conjunction with your medical team

  • Vocal Fold Nodules, Polyps, or Cysts

  • Reinke’s Edema & Vocal Fold Scarring

  • Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) support

  • Cervical Dystonia

Medical Care Note: For neurological or complex structural conditions (such as Spasmodic Dysphonia or Vocal Fold Paralysis), manual therapy is provided only as advised by your physician or ENT.

HOW SINGER'S CHOICE CAN HELP

Vocal recovery requires more than just resting your voice—it requires addressing the physical tension holding your vocal mechanism hostage.

  • Targeted Laryngeal Massage: Gentle hands-on manipulation of the muscles surrounding your hyoid bone, larynx, and neck.

  • Integrated Vocal Coaching: Combining manual bodywork with proven vocology exercises to retrain healthy, effortless sound production.

  • Collaborative Care: I regularly collaborate with ENTs, laryngologists, and SLPs to ensure your treatment plan is completely safe and aligned with your medical care.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Vocal & Functional Assessment: We’ll review your vocal history, discuss your daily voice demands, and conduct a visual and tactile assessment of your neck, jaw, and laryngeal alignment.

  • Targeted Laryngeal Therapy: Using gentle, specialized manual techniques, we will release deep tension in the muscles surrounding your throat, hyoid bone, and jaw to free up your vocal mechanism.

  • Integrated Vocal Integration: We will combine bodywork with gentle, vocalise-based exercises to help your nervous system lock in your new, tension-free baseline.

  • Self-Care & Strategy Plan: You’ll receive customized stretch and breath routines to manage vocal fatigue and maintain ease between sessions.
